The Solana issue · wallet hygiene · a ten-minute read

Stop keeping it all in one wallet.

One careless signature on a single all-purpose wallet can empty everything you own. This checklist walks you through splitting roles, guarding your recovery phrase and spotting the traps. Tick as you read; your ticks are saved only on this device and never uploaded.

Rule zero.

Your recovery phrase is for you and your wallet app alone. No exchange, airdrop, help desk or "recovery service" will ever legitimately need it, so a request for it is a theft attempt. This page has no field that could take one.

Feature · the line-up

Four wallets. Four jobs.

When each wallet has one role, a bad approval only reaches what that wallet holds. The vault stays away from new apps; the burner holds nothing you would miss.

1
Holds

The Vault

  • Hardware-backed
  • Signs rarely, known apps only
  • Address kept private
2
Trades

The Desk

  • Hot wallet, working balance
  • Trusted aggregators only
  • Profits swept to the vault
3
Experiments

The Burner

  • Funded per mint or test
  • Assume it gets drained
  • Key never imported elsewhere
4
Receives

The Front Door

  • Address you share openly
  • Holds little, sweeps out
  • Fine for a .sol name
Separate wallets limit the blast radius. They do not make you invisible.Funding links between wallets stay public forever.

Reader questions.

Do separate wallets make me anonymous?

No. Solana is a public ledger: anyone can see which wallet funded which, and exchanges know where you withdraw. Splitting wallets caps the cost of a single mistake and limits what one public address gives away. It does not conceal where money came from, and this guide does not try to.

Where do my ticks live?

In this browser's local storage, on this device only. Nothing is transmitted. Clearing site data, switching browsers or using private mode starts you fresh.

I signed something I regret. Now what?

Stop approving anything. From a device you trust, move what remains to a newly created wallet, revoke delegates on the old one and consider its phrase compromised. Report the site to your wallet provider, and ignore anyone offering paid "fund recovery": that is a second scam.
